The WVSSAR Board of Management held its spring meeting via internet conference on May 2, 2020. The spring meeting was delayed from March 21 and conducted remotely due to the Governor’s stay at home directive in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the written request of President Frank C. Khare, Jr., who was unable to chair the meeting, First Vice President James H. Frey presided.
The meeting’s purpose was to set a date for the annual meeting and election of officers and directors, which was scheduled for April 17 and also cancelled. Reports were distributed electronically and were not presented verbally.
The Board voted unanimously to hold the annual election on May 30 at 2:00 via internet conference and to suspend the annual dinner and the first meeting of the 2021 officers and directors until public health directives permit in-person meetings.
A petition for nomination for WVSSAR president was filed by Compatriot Rhendal C. Butler in compliance with Article X, Section 2 of the Constitution. His petition was supported by five chapters and 14 endorsement letters from members.
Delegates to the annual meeting will cast voice votes on the slate of officers and directors, excluding the office of president. In compliance with Article X, Section 3, Item C of the Constitution the contested nomination for president will be voted on by written ballots that will be distributed via email to delegates who participate in the May 30 annual meeting. Delegates will send completed, unsigned ballots via USPS to William H. Lester, chairman of the Nominating Committee for tabulation.
