WVSSAR Color Guard at Marmet WV

WVSSAR Color Guard participated in the Labor Day Parade held on September 05, 2016 at Marmet, WV . Again your SAR CG was blessed with fantastic weather and the honor to lead the 2016 patriotic parade at Marmet, Kanawha County, WV.

West Virginia Eagle Scout Scholarship Winner

We had 2 Eagle Scout Scholarship entries for 2014.

Kelby F. application was submitted by Chapter Eagle Scout Chairman Joe Linville
Lucas E. application was submitted by Chapter Eagle Scout Chairman James Talbert

Both Scouts are from the Buckskin Boy Scout Council, Charleston, WV, but from different SAR chapters.

Both entries were exceptional and both boys met and went above the high standards of an Eagle Scout. The judging was very close but Kelby F. was chosen to represent the State of West Virginia in the National Contest. I would like to thank Joe & James for getting applications from their chapters. We need to get more Eagle Scouts involved in this scholarship. The scholarship has increased from $8,000.00 to $10,000.00 for first place.

SAR DAR Regional Holiday Luncheon 2014

Dear Compatriots,

It is a pleasure to send out this letter and to encourage you and your guests to attend the Regional Holiday Luncheon sponsored by the Capt. James Neal and Marietta SAR Chapters. We will meet at 1:00 PM, Sunday, December 7 at the Parkersburg Country Club. This will be a very special time and a special program, so, even if you are some distance away or have not been all that active with us, I’m writing to say how nice it would be to see YOU at this event.

We continue to expand this meeting which is now one of the largest joint DAR/SAR gatherings anywhere in the region! We always welcome spouses, prospective members and guests to what is shaping up to be very festive event.

We will also have a very special program. Dr. Charles Levy, a former Marine Corps intelligence officer and local neutological surgeon, will be our special guest of honor and speaker. Dr. Levy will be speaking on unity in the aftermath of Pearl Harbor.

We welcome the DAR chapters who will meet jointly with us. The Capt. James Neal Chapter Color Guard will be with us. We will install the Chapter Officers for the coming year and welcome new members. I believe you will agree with me that this will be a very special event.
