The annual Battle Days celebration at Point Pleasant WV will be held from Friday, October 7 thru Sunday, October 9, 2016 to celebrate the 241 anniversary of the Battle of Point Pleasant which occurred on October 10, 1774.
LIST OF ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS
On Friday, October 7, 2016, At Tu-Endie-Wei State Park beginning at 7:30 P.M. The play Maid of the Mist will be presented. It will be presented in the round come early for a good seat. It will be featuring speakers commemorating the important persons and moments of “The Battle”.
On Saturday, October 8, 2016 the BATTLE DAYS PARADE will commence at 11:00 a.m. on Main Street at 10th street.
Beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2016 the Colonial Governor’s Reception will be held at the American Legion Post 23 facilities located at 100 Second Street. Colonial attire is encouraged, but not required. The cost is $20.00 per person.
After the Colonial Governor’s Reception, on Saturday, October 8, 2016, the Colonial Ball will be held at the American Legion Post 23 facilities located at 100 Second Street from 8:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Colonial attire is encouraged but not required. This event is free of charge.
On Sunday, October 9, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. an outdoor Early Colonial Church Service will be held at the Point Pleasant Tu-Endie-Wei State Park. A luncheon will be served for Compatriots and their ladies at 12:30 p.m. at the American Legion facilities located at 100 Second Street, The cost is $25.00 per person.
The Memorial Service to commemorate the Battle of Point Pleasant of October 10, 1774 will be conducted at 2:00. p.m. Sunday October 9, 2016 at the Point Pleasant TuEndie-Wei State Park. Guest speaker will be Compatriot J. Michael Tomme President General of the National Society Sons of the American Revolution. NSSAR District Vice-President Generals, State Presidents and their Compatriots, Color Guard Units and DAR and CAR will be in attendance at this formal ceremony. The general public is welcome.
There will be a Wreath-Laying Ceremony during the Memorial Service. NSSAR Rules of Protocol will be followed in presenting the colors and wreaths. Those officials participating will present their respective colors and wreaths at the Magazine located in Point Pleasant Tu-Endie-Wei State Park.
