The Fort Henry Chapter and the Wheeling Chapter, DAR presented a memorial service on September 1, 2017 at the Foreman’s Massacre monument in McMechen, WV to mark the 240th anniversary of the event. Participating were McMechen mayor Gregg Wolfe, Central District VPG Robert B. Fish, Jr., WVSSAR president Bill Lester, Debi Smith, regent, Wheeling DAR and Jay Frey, president Fort Henry Chapter. Special guests included descendants of Foreman’s company including compatriots Donald Brown (Capt. James Neal Chapter) and Rick Greathouse (Daniel Boone Chapter). Twelve color guardsmen representing WVSSAR chapters Daniel Boone, Fort Henry, Capt. James Neal, Point Pleasant and Capt. Ralph Stewart together with Ebenezer Zane Chapter, OHSSAR and George Washington Chapter, PASSAR presented the colors and fired a musket salute. Wreaths were presented at the monument. Patriot Grave Marking Ceremony
The George Rogers Clark Chapter SAR will conduct a Patriot Grave Marking ceremony on Tuesday, August 9 at 11 AM. The Patriot is Peter Lynch and his grave is located in Jackson Cemetery on East Pike Street in Clarksburg. You can find it by exiting US Route 50 West at the Joyce Street exit. The go to the intersection with the stoplight by the railroad tracks and turn left. About 100 yards on your left will be Jackson Park and cemetery.
We hope that chapter members can attend as well as spouses, guests and DAR members while we honor an individual who significantly contributed to the founding of our country.

Soldier of the American Revolution Grave Marking
All Patriot Jacob Williamson had to mark his grave in Elmwood Cemetery, Shepherdstown, WV was a simple tombstone with his date of birth and death.
