General Andrew Lewis Chapter Meeting 10 Mar 2016
Marshall University Professor Phillip Rutherford will be the featured speaker at the Thursday, March 10 meeting of the General Andrew Lewis Chapter in Huntington.
His topic will be “Fighting Fare: American Servicemen and the Taste of War, 1941-1945”.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Enslow Park Presbyterian Church, 1338 Enslow Blvd. Refreshments will be served and the public is invited.
Compatriot “Woody” Williams featured in SAR Magazine
Compatriot Hershel Woody “Woody” Williams, who is a member of the Captain James Neal Chapter, West Virginia Society, Sons of the American Revolution, is featured in an article on page 12 of the February 2016 issue of The SAR Magazine. Compatriot “Woody” Williams was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor by US President Harry Truman for his actions as a Marine during the Battle of Iwo Jima during February 1945.

Announcement of the Execution of the Final Contract
History
In 2014 Kings College London approached PG Lindsey Brock about the SAR sponsoring a visiting professor to review a discovery of new documents found in the Round Tower at Windsor Castle. These documents were papers from King George III , as well as four other kings of that era, with the bulk being from George III. In return for a payment of $38,600 per year the SAR would pay for a professor to travel to London and work on these archives with the idea of ultimately cataloging and digitizing them for publication.
