The West Virginia Society of the Sons of the American Revolution held its 88th Annual Meeting and Dinner at the Holiday Inn Express in Charleston, Wv on Friday, April 10, 2015. The WVSSAR Board of Management Meeting was held at the same location on Saturday, April 11, 2015.
The WVSSAR was honored with the presence of NSSAR Former President General Joseph W. “Joe” Dooley, NSSAR Historian General Richard D. “Dick” Brockway and NSSAR Vice President General of the Central District William Anthony “Tony” Robinson. They attended the WVSSAR Annual Meeting and Dinner on Friday and also the WVSSAR Board of Management Meeting on Saturday.
There were 28 Compatriots and guests present for the Annual Meeting and Dinner. Everyone had a great time with lots of comraderie and good food.
Daniel Boone Chapter President Brian O. Castor welcomed all to the Annual Meeting and Dinner.
WVSSAR Colorguard Commander John H. Sauer led the Pledge of Allegiance; WVSSAR Registrar Raymond M. Kane Jr. led the SAR Opening Pledge; NSSAR Historian General Richard D. “Dick” Brockway led the National Anthem; DAR Chapter Regent April Gardner led the DAR American’s Creed;
After the Opening, a Memorial Service for Compatriots who passed away during the past year was held by WVSSAR President Steven D. Hart.
The Memorial Service was followed by the Invocation given by WVSSAR Chaplain Gregory E. Michael and then everyone enjoyed a very nice dinner.
VPG William Anthony Robinson and Former PG Joseph W. Dooley were introduced.
Former President General Joseph W. “Joe” Dooley was the guest speaker, and being a great orator, gave another terrific speach.
Vice President General of the Central District William Anthony “Tony” Robinson presented the WVSSAR state awards.
DAR Chapter Regent April Gardner presented greetings from the Daughters of the American Revolution.
The election of WVSSAR officers for the year 2015-2016 was held and the new officers were then installed by Former President General Joseph W. Dooley.
WVSSAR President Steven D. Hart addressed the meeting; followed by the SAR Closing Pledge led by Former VPG Central District Lance Carter; Benediction was by given by WVSSAR Chaplain Gregory E. Michael.
On Saturday, the WVSSAR Board of Management Meeting was held. 22 Compatriots were present for the meeting. A discussion was held about the forming of the new Tygart Valley Chapter in Elkins, Randolph County, West Virginia. After the discussion, a vote of the Board of Management members was held, and the formation of the new Tygart Valley Chapter was unanimously approved by the members of the Board of Management. The Board of Management also approved the WVSSAR 2016 Annual Meeting which will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 at Flatwoods, WV. Further details about the WVSSAR 2016 Annual Meeting will be finalized at a later date.
