On March 21, 2015, after the WVSSAR Board of Management meeting in Point Pleasant, WV, Compatriots Steve Hart and Ray Kane visited Fort Randolph.
On behalf of the Officers and Compatriots of the West Virginia Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, we extend our most sincere condolences to the family and friends of James E. “Jimmy” Johnson who passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2015. James E. “Jimmy” Johnson was a member of the SAR since 1973 and a member of the Greenbrier Valley Chapter of the West Virginia Society, Sons of the American Revolution. He was a Past Vice President General of the SAR, a Past President of the West Virginia Society SAR (1985) and a Past President of the Greenbrier Valley Chapter. Bill James Dunfee was a past WVSSAR Chancellor and a member of the General Andrew Lewis Chapter in Hungtington, WV. He actively participated in WVSSAR activities for more than 20 years. The West Virginia Society of the Sons of the American Revolution was honored to have one of its own appointed as National Historian General by President General Brock and approved by the National Trustees at the recent Spring Leadership/Trustee Meeting in Louisville. Richard D. Brockway of White Sulphur Springs, member of the Greenbrier Valley Chapter, was elected to fill the unexpired term as National Historian General.
WVSSAR President Steve Hart will be the featured speaker and install officers at the Thursday, March 12 meeting of the General Andrew Lewis Chapter. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Enslow Park Presbyterian Church in Huntington.

The WVSSAR has fulfilled the requirements for The Admiral William R. Furlong Memorial Award. 100% of the chapters and the state gave certificates in the past year. The award will be given at the annual congress in Louisville in June.
